About this book
The night Mum doesn’t come home, Anya sets out to find her despite the storm raging out at sea. From her small boat she sees a strange window of light in the sky but, as she reaches out to touch it, everything goes black.
When she wakes up, the storm has gone and the sea is calm but her mum is still missing. For reasons she doesn’t understand she is packed off to stay with strangers where she discovers a shocking secret that rocks her world.
Despite her new knowledge, there are still too many unanswered questions, so Anya must face her greatest fear if she is to find out the truth about the light, about herself and about what exactly has happened to her mum.
Without giving out spoilers, it’s difficult to outline the plot of this gripping and intriguing mystery but it involves identity, self-discovery, acceptance and love alongside fantastical science and cosmic theory.
It is a superbly crafted, edge-of-seat, sci-fi thriller that also asks important ethical and moral questions about what it means to be human, giving readers plenty to think about long after they finish the book.
