About this book
This attractive board book introduces young children to a range of animals from around the world. Each double-page spread features an outline map of a different continent: Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and Antarctica. A brief description of each region outlines some key information, for example the number of countries, typical climate and types of terrain.
Labelled pictures of animals are dotted across each map to show approximately where they live, and an impressively large creature pops up from the centre of each page, including a scarlet macaw, a giant panda and a blue whale. In addition, there are four flaps to lift on each page, which reveal fun facts about certain animals, for example, wolves howl to communicate with each other, flamingos hide their heads while they sleep and emus cannot fly but can run very fast.
Crisp, stylised illustrations make it easy for children to identify each creature and the large format, chunky pages, sturdy flaps and rounded corners make this board book ideal for small hands to grasp. It is robust enough to tolerate some rough handling as enthusiastic young readers explore the pages.
