About this book

Many years have passed since Alice’s original adventures in Wonderland and her granddaughter Alyce (with a y) doesn’t quite believe her curious tales of white rabbits and Cheshire cats.

But when a mysterious invitation from the Mad Hatter arrives, Alyce ends up tumbling through the garden pond into her very own fantastical adventure.

Alyce experiences a much-changed Wonderland. The magical world is caught up in a war between the Sun King and the Queen of the Moon, causing day and night to switch at random. Alyce is set the challenging task of sorting out this argument and so, with the help of a sailing fox, she bravely ventures out through ridiculous, implausible, funny and illogical situations to restore balance.

Adding to a story as well-loved as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is no easy feat, but Anna James manages it beautifully with this book.

The reader meets a mix of new characters and old favourites on Alyce’s journey, and there are plenty of nonsensical situations to enjoy. The book is written in a fittingly whimsical style and features beautiful illustrations by Matthew Land.

A winner for new and existing fans alike, this book is a fitting celebration of the original and a cracking story in its own right.
