This collection of books and resources for Key Stage 3 has been specially developed by BookTrust to support schools in developing shared reading experiences that will give students the confidence to start and maintain a reading habit.

“Shared reading sessions with the BookTrust resources allow me to introduce many different types of books and different authors that the students wouldn’t have come across.

“When students participate in shared reading experiences in school, it allows them to see that they have similar interests to other people. They can communicate in a way that’s very low stakes. This is really valuable for their mental health and also to build their confidence.”

I’ve used the books in lots of different ways. It’s a really effective mix of the reading sets for groups in library lessons and the other books for when students want to share the books with each other.
