Loki, the star of A Bad God’s Guide to Being Good, shares his reading manifesto with us (via author Louie Stowell).
Loki says:
- Read books that are a bad influence (like books with farts and murder in them)
- Read short, easy books to annoy adults
- Read pictures (like comics and graphic novels)
- Read with your ears (audiobooks)
- Don’t bother finishing books you hate
- Read on your screens! (ebooks and webcomics)
Read whatever (and however) you want, you wicked creature. Read like a Bad God.
And Louie Stowell says, “I wrote the Lokifesto out of frustration. Amid a reading crisis, we so often tell children to read more but then suck the pleasure out of it by telling them, ‘Don’t read THAT’ or ‘You MUST read THIS’.
“I wanted to suck out the judgement instead and remind children that reading can be a source of rebellion and anarchy.
The Lokifesto is a message to all children: There is no wrong way to read – read whatever and however you want. Reading belongs to you.
