Letterbox Club for Local Authorities

Letterbox Club can be purchased by local authorities through the Pupil Premium Grant, either directly by virtual schools, or by recommending this to schools at PEP meetings. 

At just £157 per child (including VAT), you’ll receive six sets of Letterbox Club parcels to be gifted to individual children. These can be delivered to the local authority for you to distribute, or they can be sent directly to the child at their address or to their school, for gifting. 

Virtual Schools (Local Authorities) can choose from a range of delivery options including: 

• Delivery to the local authority for onward distribution
• Direct delivery to the foster carer’s address (there is a charge for this option)
• Delivery to schools for onward gifting

As one of the flagship programmes at BookTrust, Letterbox Club has, for over 20 years, continued to be enjoyed by thousands of cared for, and Previously Looked After children, along with their carers and families, and their teachers. 

Letterbox Club parcels can be delivered to Virtual School Teams, for onward delivery, or delivered directly to where children are living, for them to keep. The parcels encourage and support family time with books, stories and numeracy games to share and enjoy with their trusted adults along with guidance on how to make the most of the resources. 

…In fact, 68% of Letterbox Club children say they have been reading more on their own since receiving their parcels. 

We know through our research that the Letterbox Club has a positive impact on reading habits. With a wide range of fiction, non-fiction, novelty books and accessible maths games, there is something to spark the interest of all children to read more, and build up those essential reading miles that we know have such an impact on reading fluency. 

With resources thoughtfully chosen for children with vulnerabilities, Letterbox Club brings a sense of belonging and excitement to children who may not have experienced books of their own before.
