Why comics matter for young readers 02/12/24
The BFG
Publisher: Jonathan Cape
The BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant, who unexpectedly spirits a little girl named Sophie out of bed, and into the land of the child-eating giants. With Sophie in his top pocket, the BFG sets off to rid the world of the big, gruesome giants who guzzle up 'human beans' - the Bloodbottler, the Fleshlumpeater and all their rotsome friends.
Full of outrageous humour and plenty of jokes about bodily functions that children will love, this warm-hearted stories is one of Roald Dahl's many much-loved tales that continue to be cherished by readers of all ages.

If you had to choose a favourite Roald Dahl book then The BFG would have to be one of them. This book is for kids and also has very silly words and more! And it will really make you laugh out loud!! I banged on the table and laughed at the word 'snozcumber'. Kids will especially love the rude humour when The BFG drinks frobscottle.

I like the BFG book because Roald Dahl put the character the BFG. I like the BFG because he says funny words like Snozzcomber and Human Beans. Also, I like the head of the army because he shouts a lot at people. I like the part at the end of the book when the BFG said “You’ve just finished reading it.”

I would 100% recommend that you read ‘’The BFG’’ by Roald Dahl. I think that Roald Dahl has an outstanding imagination! In every part of the book, Roald Dahl’s writing is so mesmerising, that it makes you just want to read on and On and ON! I particularly liked the fascinating descriptions of the dreams and the wonderful illustrations. This book can be enjoyed by any age. My favourite quote is in the last paragraph.....but you’ll have to read the book to find out what it is!

The book is about a Giant and a little girl. He takes her to Giants' country and he tells her his biggest secret. They go on a mission together. I didn't like the story because it is boring and I didn't like the characters except the BFG and the boss of the giants. A child would like this book. I would like the book to end in a different way. I liked how the BFG talks.

The BFG book was ok but there were some boring bits. Out of five stars I will give it 4 stars. My favourite quote was mid-way through the book when Sophie was reading the labels on the dream bottles. My favourite picture was the dead guy at the end. Roald Dahl did well with the made-up words for the giants, but this was sometimes tricky to read. I would recommend this book to people who like fiction books, but I prefer non-fiction.

The book is about a little girl called Sophie that sees a giant out of her bedroom window. The giant takes Sophie away to giant land and Sophie learns a lot about giants. The name of the giant is BFG. Anyone can read this book. It is for children, grownups and old people. I enjoyed reading the story a lot. I especially liked the book because the BFG speaks in a funny way and makes his own words up.

This story is about a little girl called Sophie who finds out that giants really do exist! My favourite part of the book is when the BFG kidnaps Sophie because it's exciting and dramatic. The BFG uses made up words because he never ever went to school. He has made up long words which are funny, like whizzpopper. Sophie was petrified when she first saw the BFG, but their friendship grew and Sophie and the BFG became friends forever.

The BFG is about Sophie and The Big Friendly Giant. Sophie lives in an orphanage and is snatched from her bed in the middle of the night by the BFG. They go to Giant Country and Sophie learns all about giants. Some of the giants are not very nice like the Fleshlumpeater and his friends. Sophie and the BFG want to stop them eating people, so they make a plan. I really enjoyed the funny language and the characters in this book. I'd recommend this book to all my friends and any reader age 6+.

The story of the BFG is about friendly giant who catches dreams. Sophie, a little girl, frightened to begin with, soon makes the BFG her best friend. My favourite part of the story was when the giants get captured on Giant Island. I think people of all ages would enjoy the book especially young children. I don't think the story is for little people because it will them nightmares. Roald Dahl is very good at making words up like whizzpopping and snozcumbers. The BFG book is amazing story.

the BFG snatches a little girl called Sophie from her bed. She gets taken to a cave and they come up with a plan to capture some mean, scary giants. I liked the illistrations because they paint pictures in my mind. I think my Mum and Dad would like this book because they've read all the Roald Dhal books.

My favourite character is the Head of the Army because he barks orders everywhere. The best part of the story for me when the Giants had the bad dream about being cannibalistic. It's really satisfying as they feel the fear others do. Scrumdidliumpcious is my favourite BFG word. I would give this book a rating of 5/5.

The BFG is a book about a friendly Giant who snatches a young girl called Sophie from her bed in the middle of the witching hour! My favourite part of the book was when the BFG told Sophie [and us!] about what was inside the small round jars and the part when they catch the mean, gross giant and only gave them a type of fruit called snozzcumbers but, the bit where 3 drunk men fall into the giants pit is just gruesome! I hope you enjoy it!

The BFG is really funny because the BFG mixes up his words! My favourite quote was when one of the mean giants said “save our soul’s”!

This is the story of a little girl called Sophie, who helps a good giant called the BFG, save humanity from some horrid, vile giants, who eat people. I liked this book because although there are many funny parts, there were also parts that made me think, like the part where the BFG points out that humans eat pigs, and the pigs don't like that either!

The BFG was soo funny, I loved how the author spelled the BFG'S words all wrong, so it was like he was speaking a total different language! Sophie I felt sorry for, as she was an orphan, but then had the time of her life having an amazing adventure with the kind giant, the BFG.

Sophie is an orphan who is woken up in the middle of the night... by a giant! Luckily he is the BFG (the Big Friendly Giant) and she is safe in his company. But other giants aren't so nice and Sophie is off on an exciting adventure.
This was a really great imaginative story and if you love Roald Dahls books you'll love this one too! Especially the crazy giant foods like snozzcumber made me laugh!

The BFG is a good book it's about a little girl called sophy who saw the BFG who was blowing dreams in to childrens ears with his silent horn . There are bad giants that eat children because they thought we were human bens insted of humans beings

The BFG is a good book but was a little bit boring. It is about a girl called sophy but it is so unrealistic. The guy blows dreams into people ears. I understand why they do that because they want you to know hes a nice guy. It is a bit hard to remember but the story is ok. I would garante to buy it but make sure you have a good memory if you want to tell someone about it.

The book was a very intresting book and it was funney and it was a good ending.
Oliver, 21 October 2013
I really like this book because it has different characters who are either naughty or nice. Their is a really good story line and like the ending the author created. The BFG is a great character and this is one of my favourite Roald Dahl books as it keeps engaged until the end. Would recommend for young or old.
