If you still need encouragement to pick up this book and follow the adventures of Skulduggery Pleasant, skeleton detective, and his sidekick Valkyrie Cain as they try to stop the evil Baron Vengeous and save the world, the story is also very funny.
This witty and irreverent fantasy adventure has a ludicrous plot, unbelievable characters and will be loved by most 9-14 year olds.
Be warned though, some of the violence may be a little too graphic for younger readers.

I have read the whole series multiple times and it never gets old it is the best book series I've ever read, it ranges from hilarious skeletons to action packed fighting scenes and I recommended a hundred percent to anyone!

The whole Skulduggery Pleasant series is amazing, it's full of sarcastic humour and hilarious characters as well as action and adventure. I definitely recommend the series to everyone as it contains a little bit of every genre.

I absolutely am in love with this book and this series!!! I love the way Derek Landy is able to change the mood of the chapter. It is facetious and hilarious. Skulduggery and Valkyrie's wit is out of the world!!!

Really amazing to read. One of the best masterpieces of modern day books. It`s fast, funny and full of sarcasm, jokes and funny quips. I recommend the Skulduggery Pleasant books for all magic and mystery fiction lovers.

Serpine has been defeated! But now Baron Vengeous has broken out of prison and is bent on bringing back the dark gods , who are said to have ruled the earth, with the help of a vampire and a hit-man deulxe. Can the good guys possibly win? Great book.

Darek Landy has an incredible knack for writing, his stories range from tear jerking horrors to hysterical homohablican tales. Lovely stuff from Gaffy Landy!
