Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces

One day, orphaned best friends Chiri and Dai stumble across a portal hidden amongst ancient ruins and are transported to another world – a world filled with danger, unusual characters and a myriad of adventures.  

As they explore the forgotten realm, they encounter the looming presence of the Shadow King. They learn of his plans to spread malice into their own world and discover that they have a pivotal role in stopping him.

Chiri realises that the hand movements she uses for sign language can produce powerful magic and under the guidance of a female druid, an ogre warrior, a nomadic witch and a bumbling archaeologist, she learns to master this power while Dai battles against his own fears to become a master swordsman. Finally ready to do battle, the friends set out to end the miserable reign of the Shadow King. 

Fans of anime and manga will love the quirky humour, cute animals and dynamic action in this book. Sanchez achieves a Ghibli-like world of wild imagination through his incredibly detailed illustrations, and the lilac and pink colour palette makes this graphic novel stand out.
