Suggested reading for years 3 & 4: Autumn term

As children progress into Lower Key Stage 2 they continue to develop their personal reading preferences and begin to explore a wider range of books independently. During this period it is vital that reading for pleasure is encouraged and that children’s enthusiasm for books and reading is nurtured.

The following books are a collection of some of our favourites for this age range that support reading for pleasure. We have featured a mix of timeless classics, superb contemporary stories, immersive non-fiction, powerful poetry, thought-provoking picture books and hilarious graphic novels – many of which tie into popular cross-curricular topics like ancient civilisations, religious celebrations and the environment.
