Wiggly Wiggly: Playtime Rhymes
by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Chris Riddell
Interest age: 2 to 3
Published by Walker Books, 2018
About this book
Chris Riddell’s vibrant illustrations bring humour and suggest actions to go along with these simple playtime rhymes. The rhymes all imply actions of some kind, but there are no specific directions to follow, and adults and children will need to invent their own.
With some of the more active rhymes, it is hard to see how one can do the actions and read the book at the same time, but on the other hand, they rhymes are easy enough to memorise, and fun to say aloud. The different colours used for some of the text also encourage alternating voices between adult and child. There is plenty of potential fun here for adults who have enough energy to get into the spirit of the rhymes and play along with their younger children or toddlers.
