Blizz Builds a Snowman: Weather Tots
by Caroline Crowe, illustrated by Nia Gould
Interest age: 2 to 4

About this book
At Weather School, Professor Cloud takes the Weather Tots outside for a practical lesson, and Blizz is desperate to show off a talent for making it snow. However, when the snow doesn’t settle, Frosty makes the ground nice and cold.
Yet, when it’s time to make a snowman, Blizz gets cross with Sunny, who unintentionally makes the snow melt. And when Mizzle and Drizzle have trouble with the snowman and get upset, Blizz gets even crosser that the project isn’t working out perfectly.
Finally, Blizz realises that it’s much easier – and much more fun – to make the snowman as a team with friends, and it’s even more fun to whoosh back to school on Professor Cloud’s sledge.
This sweet story about learning to work as a team and being kind to your friends is part of a series exploring different early years themes such as starting school and sharing.
Nia Gould’s cute illustrations are appealing and the text is simple and easy to understand. The theme of weather means that little ones will also gain some new words in their vocabulary and understand what those weather terms mean.
