About this book
Whether your family contains two dads or one mum; whether you’re adopted or someone in your family is disabled; whether it’s a big or small family – there’s one thing that all families have in common, and that’s love.
On each double-page spread of this vibrant, lovely book, families show the different ways they experience a variety of common experiences to us all: weather, meals, travelling, feeling ill, having fun, and what happens when things go wrong, too. One family suffers a flood, another a lost dog, another a broken arm – overall, the great thing about families, whatever their makeup, is that they help us through the difficult times.
It’s delightful to have a book like this to leaf through in which most children would be able to see themselves, or something like their own family. There’s loads of detail to talk about with younger children – what people are eating, who the families remind us of (ourselves; our friends and family), and the common threads of everyday life that link us together, reminding us all that we’re more similar than we are different.
