Tom has been a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital for three months. 

His blood cells are attacking themselves but it’s hard to process what the doctors say. He just knows that the treatment makes his hair fall out and makes food taste terrible.   

When his friend Felix comes to visit, he finds himself, and new acquaintance Daisy, in one of the hospital’s hidden gardens. Strange music begins to play and the trio are suddenly covered in golden dust and having an urgent conversation with a golden bat and a tiny dragon. 

Before they know it, they are sucked into a giant trumpet and flung out into the sky on their way to Neverland. Because, apparently, Neverland needs them, and they need Neverland. 

Revisiting the magical land created by J M Barrie, the three friends are captured by pirates, then by mermaids who all accuse them of being thieves. But it is their meeting with the Lost Boys and Girls that clarifies what is happening and leads them into great danger.
