About this book
The Gumdrops – Hope, Bubbles, Sparky and Rainbow – are the guardians of magical Yummy Gummy Land. They receive a letter from seven-year-old Daisy, who has moved to a new town and needs an imaginary friend to help her settle in, so they create a recipe to make her ideal companion: a heap of kindness, a dash of silliness, a pinch of patience and a sprinkle of bravery.
When the Gumdrops go to the Imaginary Friend Factory to gather the ingredients, they are alarmed to discover that all the Bravery has been destroyed by Evilee, the Night Terror. Determined not to let Daisy down, the Gumdrops set off on a quest to find some more Bravery at the tip of the tallest mountain in Yummy Gummy Land.
The narrator of the story encourages lots of engagement and interaction: readers are invited to think of passwords, say silly words to feed the hungry Word Slurpers and shake the Gumdrops dry after they fall into the Story Swamp. Bursting with colourful illustrations, delightful characters and oodles of humour, this quirky comic-book tale is a superb celebration of imagination, creativity, fun and friendship.
