About this book
Arianwyn fails her witch's assessment and is sure her life is over. It is a time of war, however, and all available witches are needed. So despite her continued apprentice status, she is sent to a posting in the sleepy town of Lull, to help them with some tricky little demon infestations.
But as soon as she arrives, Arianwyn realises there is some very dark magic hovering on the edge of the town - something that may be beyond her abilities to deal with.
This is a great adventure story, filled with wonderful spells and mysterious creatures. Arianwyn is a fantastic character, unsure of her self but determined to succeed. The atmosphere throughout the book is tense and exciting, right until the dramatic climax. This is Nicol's debut novel and it is sure to be a hit.
