Their synchronised swimming routine could definitely use some improvement, compared to the perfect Mermaids who get perfect tens from the judges at the Junior Synchronised Swimming Interborough Conference.

Yet, when pigeon-crazy Agnes discovers a giant squid hiding in an abandoned pool, the possibilities for their synchronised swimming team blow wide open – but it seems that others are hunting for the (rather friendly) squid too. Will Team Pom be able to save their aquatic friend from the evil mice on its trail – and just why are Team Mermaid so perfect?

Isabel Roxas’ super fun and readable comic about friendship, individuality and heroism is a brilliant read for 8-10 year olds looking for something highly visual and original. Some of the language is a little wordy, hence the older age tag, though none of it is a cause for concern.
