About this book

There’s a new student at superhero school, and she’s super shy. But the other students aren’t very welcoming – they stare at her, whisper behind her back, and question why she’s there in the first place.

Surrounded by classmates with impressive superpowers and fancy hero costumes, Super Goat Girl worries that she doesn’t measure up to the others. After all, she can’t shoot laser beams from her eyes or stretch her body all around the classroom.

Throughout the day, chaos erupts in the playground. First, there’s an invasion of evil aliens, and then a greedy giant gorilla interrupts lunch, and their teacher, Miss Damsel, needs rescuing. How will the young superheroes help their teacher?

It soon becomes clear that Super Goat Girl’s seemingly ordinary yet unique skills are exactly what’s needed to save the day.

This exciting tale gently tackles the difficulties of impostor syndrome for a young audience and encourages young readers to find joy in who they are and what makes them special. Children will find it encouraging to watch Super Goat Girl’s confidence grow as she helps those in need with her special talents.

The book is cleverly designed like a comic book, featuring speech bubbles and a mix of full-page spreads and vignettes. Dapo Adeola’s action-packed illustrations pop from the page and marry well with the energetic pace of the story.

Each thrilling scene is portrayed with bright colours, making the adventurous story extremely engaging and an absolute delight for the eyes.
