About this book
Snail friends Fergus and Shelby live happily in Angela Miller’s garden. Fergus is a planner and likes to be in control of every situation, whereas Shelby takes a much more laid-back approach to life.
But both are baffled by the sudden surge in popularity of slugs and are horrified to discover that Angela’s garden is to be bulldozed in three days’ time to make way for a fancy new slug salad bar. Determined to save their home, the pair decide to take their complaint to the very top: the Prime Minister. But how will they reach Downing Street in time when their top speed is literally a snail’s pace?
When Shelby casually suggests they utilise their mega-morphing skills, Fergus is flabbergasted, as he had no idea they had developed superpowers when a puddle they were sitting in was struck by lightning.
The snails transform into a range of objects – from a vat of custard to a giant plastic crab dressed as a sailor – and uncover a dastardly gastropod plot to eradicate the human race using poisoned lemon drizzle cake.
With wacky characters, a bonkers plot and amusing black-and-white illustrations, this laugh-out-loud chapter book is extremely entertaining.
