Casey and her gaming crew, the Ghost Reapers, are stranded on the remote planet of Hosin; abducted by the brutal Arcturian Red Eyes and forced to play online game SkyWake for real.

Unable to defeat the mysterious Squids without help, the Red Eyes have trained up an army of human gamers who now have mind-control devices implanted in their brains and have no choice but to fight.

Luckily, Casey and her squad have evaded the mind control but are still light years away from home in the midst of a raging battle. And, although their only aim is to get back to Earth, things get very complicated when the group is split up and a strange voice enters Casey’s mind asking for help.

This second book in the SkyWake trilogy picks up exactly where the first instalment ended. It’s an adrenaline-fuelled, futuristic, gaming thriller which is immersive and exhilarating but also funny and thoughtful in places with characters facing difficult moral/ethical questions.

While it’s not essential to have read book one, it’s definitely advisable and existing fans will be thrilled by the tantalising glimpse at the set-up for the final book in the series.
