About this book
Cousins Iris and Ted Fox live on opposite sides of a vast wall that separates two halves of Skulkmoor Manor. Their family has been (literally) split in two, the result of a bitter ancestral feud.
The mystery of their grandparents’ deaths and unresolved inheritance continues to hang over the resentful households, much like the manor’s dark portraits and ominous ravens. The warring cousins must end this.
So each sets out to outfox the other, exploring Skulkmoor’s hidden passages and long-buried secrets to uncover the truth about their shadowy past. Who will win? Which ancestor really did commit murder?
This is a meaty book that grips the reader from the first page and doesn’t let go. With chapters narrated alternately by Iris and Ted, it’s impossible not to engage with both delightful characters, keeping the air of mystery alive to the end.
The storytelling is delectably dark and dangerous, with shocks and surprises around every twisty corner. Iris (like the author) has a leg brace, something she treats with both humour and pragmatism, as she and her cousin compete indefatigably for the right to the cobweb-infested manor.
A thrilling and gruesomely gothic showstopper of an adventure.
