Science is Lit: Crazy Chemistry and Epic Experiments

Big Manny is a scientist with two degrees in biomedical science who does cool experiments on TikTok. In Science is Lit: Crazy Chemistry and Epic Experiments, he shows readers how to do awesome science experiments at home using everyday ingredients. 

Beginning with a brief introduction to chemistry and the elements, Big Manny suggests eight different themes of experiments for readers to try, including crystallisation, separating solids, distillation, chromatography, making a lava lamp and even turning milk into plastic. The experiments are also rated in three levels of difficulty, from the simplest (Simple Ting) to the intermediary (Come On Now) and the more challenging (Big Science). 

At the end of the book, there’s also a cool quiz so that readers can find out which element they are, and a glossary of all the scientific words used. 

Most of all, though, the appealing thing about Science is Lit is Manny’s warmth and his clear enthusiasm for science, as well as the way that he encourages children to be curious and ask questions.

This is a super fun and highly educational book which makes science accessible and cool and shows children that they don’t need fancy equipment to have a lot of fun with experiments.
