About this book
Pedro is spending the day with his friends at the school’s eco cabin. There is much to discuss, such as eco-friendly ways of travelling, ways to save water, and how important bugs are to our planet. Plus they have lots to do, including planting seeds, recycling and composting, and admiring a beautiful old tree. Finally, they all make a pledge to do something that will help the planet.
This is part of the Nature Heroes series, and it’s packed with facts about nature and what we humans can do to help protect it. Written by Jess French, who is a vet, zoologist and naturalist, the information is perfectly pitched for young school children. The tone is friendly, with no doom-mongering, yet it’s clear that these activities are important. That, combined with Duncan Beedie’s friendly illustrations, makes this a useful book to share with young children.
Equally importantly, the children featured are a diverse mix, and Pedro himself has hearing aids. This casual inclusion brilliantly reflects the society we live in.
