But he notices a neighbour with a sad smile and a new girl at school by herself, and Jai decides to spread joy, like the diya lights in his home. After all, one act of kindness can spark another.
This is a heartwarming story that shows the reader the values of Diwali - community, gratitude and sharing - and includes a spread at the back with more information about Diwali. But it's primarily about a kind little boy, who notices other people and their feelings, which is to be much celebrated. The joyous illustrations show a colourful world, with many gorgeous details to be admired in the clothing, food and decorations. This is a lovely book with a lovely message.
