About this book
Did you know that a sunfish is one of the heaviest fish in the ocean, and that a harp seal can hold its breath for up to fifteen minutes?
What about the fact that, at the bottom of the Indian Ocean, there’s a whale graveyard, where dead whales provide food for a host of weird and wonderful creatures? Or the fact that green moray eels are actually brown, but they’re covered in slime that gives them a yellowish-green colour?
This interactive seek-and-find guide to a variety of fascinating creatures that live in the ocean encompasses habitats as varied as mangroves, underwater volcanoes, shipwrecks and the polar ice cap. Each double page has a bright and beautiful illustration, with a panel of five creatures for young readers to find. The text is at a fairly simple level – ideal for mid primary readers - with a short introduction on each page, and a glossary and index at the back, as well as the answers, if readers don’t spot all the animals.
A great first book about ocean creatures, with plenty of colour and interest.
