About this book
It’s Mo the mouse’s birthday and all of his friends are coming over for a brilliantly fun birthday party. Helpfully, they’ve all brought snacks and delicious treats – a cheese-tastic pie, a cheese fondue, and even a cheese birthday cake!
However, even though mice are supposed to love cheese, it turns out that Mo is in fact allergic to dairy – butter, milk, and cheese will make him itch and cough. Mo feels very sad when all of his friends leave the party, and has a little cry.
Fortunately, his friends have a good think and create an absolutely marvellous HUGE chocolate birthday cake for Mo – completely dairy-free. Hurrah!
Complete with a yummy recipe for dairy-free chocolate cake at the end, No Cheese Please! is a lovely rhyming picture book with super cute illustrations, perfect for little ones with food allergies and their parents.
There is a surprising lack of picture books on the market with the theme of food intolerance and allergy, but many children live with those issues and it’s nice to see this being acknowledged and addressed here. There’s also a lovely message about being a good friend and learning to accommodate others who may have different needs to our own.
