About this book
Discover 20 accounts of hope and determination in these stories of people working to protect and preserve the natural world and create positive change, often through the smallest of actions.
The featured activists include those you may be familiar with as well the less well-known. To name a few, there’s British conservationist Chris Packham, Jane Goodall and her work with wild chimpanzees, the “Gangsta Gardener” Ron Finley in Los Angeles, Txai Surui, who’s fighting for the Amazon Rainforest, and Quannah Chasinghorse, who’s working to protect coastal lands of her Arctic home.
Each of them has a passion for the world around them that has inspired them to take action. In each profile, readers are introduced to who they are as a person before revealing what inspired them to try and make change, and what they have achieved. What makes many of their stories empowering is that each of them is an ordinary person who started out small, often doing things any one of us could do ourselves.
While the text is fairly compact, each profile is just a few pages long and written in an engaging and accessible narrative. You can dip in-and-out, read independently, or read in a shared setting.
