My Cousins, My World

About this book
Cousins are an important part of our family: our first friends, our best friends, our forever friends.
Attai and Pereira’s lovely picture book aims to celebrate the relationships we have with our cousins, whether they are nearby or far away. The little girl who describes all of her very varied cousins has some that are loud, some that are quiet, some that make sushi and some that speak Samoan; some cousins she only sees once a year, and some she goes on exciting holidays with through craggy caves and wild campouts.
The text is presented in a nice and clear font and is arranged clearly on the page. Pereira’s illustrations featuring a diverse cast of characters are full of vitality and interest; the scenes of the family enjoying a meal together show a large, happy extended family bonding over an array of yummy food and the message is that everyone’s heritage and experience is valued.
