The Melowies are five girl unicorns: Cleo, Electra, Maya, Cora and Selena, who live in Aura, a world where magical creatures live in harmony.

Each Melowy comes to school at the Castle of Destiny from one of the four realms (Winter, Spring, Day and Night) – apart from Cleo, who was dropped off at the school as a baby with only a mysterious star pendant as identification. Each Melowy has a special power, according to their realm: Maya, from the Spring realm, has the Power of Heat and loves cooking; proud and serious Cora, from the Winter realm, has the Power of Cold and adores ice skating.

When the Melowies have to sit a Defence Techniques exam, they find themselves transported out into the outside world to face their deepest fears. Yet it’s Cleo’s power that can save them all, if only they can believe in the power of friendship.
