About this book
Martha’s lovely, kind-hearted mummy is expecting a new baby, and so Martha takes it upon herself to map out her family tree so that the baby will know who everyone is.
But then, after she’s done that, she starts to think about other families that she’s a part of, and the families of all her friends.
Then, she starts mapping out her community family, and even the families of species that live on the Earth. In the end, Martha realises that there is nothing and nobody on Earth that isn’t connected to something or someone else – and, beyond the Earth, the planets and the stars, too.
This is the third in Leigh Hodgkinson’s amazing Martha Maps It Out series, with this one focusing on different kinds of families.
It’s a great book for 4-6 year-olds who might be expecting a new sibling, as well as for all children that love diagrams and maps. Hodgkinson is a superb author-illustrator, creating quirky and warm-hearted concepts and pictures that will enthral and fascinate children.
