About this book

Young moth Marnie Midnight adores the moon and can’t wait to learn more about it when she enrols at Minibeast Academy, a boarding school for bugs.

She is keen to become a monologist, just like legendary moth Lunora Wingheart, who dedicated her life to lunar studies until she mysteriously disappeared on an expedition to the moon. However, Marnie is dismayed when her surly form tutor, Mr Atlas, says all things lunar are off the curriculum.

Marnie makes friends with Floyd the flamboyant bee, and a slightly intimidating ant named Star. When the trio inadvertently uncover a dastardly plot, they bravely embark on a perilous quest to save the day. The friends encounter all manner of dangers, from shifty-looking flies to scraggly rodents and even the terrifying Early Bird.

This imaginative, bug-sized world is entirely believable. Richly illustrated throughout, the gothic-style black-and-white artwork really steals the show. With oversized features and stylish attire, the miniature characters have enormous personalities, while the setting is brought to life with delightful, quirky details and masses of humour.

This is the first exciting tale in the Marnie Midnight series, by the creator of Amelia Fang and Rainbow Grey.
