It’s Not My Cookie
by Kael Tudor, illustrated by Ben Sanders
Interest age: 2 to 7
Published by Scholastic, 2026
About this book
Bear finds a delicious-looking cookie lying on the ground. The poor cookie, all alone… surely it deserves to be eaten?
Yet Bear feels a tinge of guilt at thinking about eating this delicious, yummy scrummy chocolate chip cookie. It doesn’t belong to him… but will anyone know if he does eat it? Maybe the cookie doesn’t belong to anyone else?
After examining his feelings, and being annoyed by Tortoise virtuously searching for the real owner of the apple they’ve found, Bear decides to eat the cookie, only to find that someone has got there before him. How RUDE!
Fans of Jon Klassen will adore Tudor and Sanders’ book, with its quirky internal monologue and cute bear. There’s a lovely message here about being honest and listening to your conscience, and the expressions on all the animals’ faces, especially the bird, are priceless. Wonderful.
