About this book

Hanna loves sport and playing outside. But at school she finds numbers tricky to understand. Everything is jumbled up, and Hanna feels confused and upset. One day, Help appears, and from then on things get easier. When Hanna can't do something, Help suggests that she asks someone to show her how to do it. Hanna even helps her friends whenever she can.

This reassuring story is in Tom Percival's Big Bright Feelings series of picture books, which are so useful to read with children who might be worried about something. Everyone has been in the position of needing to ask for help, or not understanding when seemingly everyone else does. It's important for children to see that there's no shame in asking for help. Plus, by the end, Hanna is offering her help to others too, as we all have some things that we find easy, which is an important positive note to end on. The illustrations beautifully echo Hanna's feelings - losing colour when she's confused and sad, and technicolour when she's feeling more confident. Another glorious addition to the brilliant Big Bright Feelings series.
