About this book

Chicken Hill is a perfectly “normal” town filled with perfectly “normal” characters: animals who talk, guitar-playing guinea pigs, conspiracy theorist cats, giant zombie gnomes and much more besides. Perfectly normal… Living amongst them is Ferdy, inventor extraordinaire and explorer of all things weird. He can usually be found in his inventing shed with his trusty farting pug Gripper, and Tink, his brother’s narcoleptic cat. Alongside a variety of zany pals, they investigate all of the weird and wonderful things that go on in town.

Ferdy and his gang embark on three separate adventures, each as brilliantly bonkers as the next. Expect alien invasions, zombie cactuses and underwater antics with warty frogs! The cast of quirky characters are utterly hilarious but are also generally friendly and supportive. And, while the adventures feature light peril, the action sequences manage to be exciting without being violent.

Blake’s lively artwork bursts with personality and is the star of this book. Chicken Hill is packed with expressive characters, dynamic action, a bright colour palette and heaps of comic details to spot. They complement the book’s humour, and the visual storytelling makes the narrative accessible and inviting, particularly for those still building reading confidence.

A brilliant choice for fans of Dog Man or Bunny vs Monkey.
