About this book

Grumpy Badger owns Badger Books, the bookshop on Aardvark Avenue alongside Fox & Son Tailers, Basking Shark Bikes, and The Nesting Box Finest Home Furnishings. The shop is packed with books on every subject and for every reader.

Yet when little Rory the fox comes into the shop looking for a very specific book – featuring a jellyfish on the moon, with pirate octopuses in a giant pineapple boat – Badger doesn’t have it.

And the more specific Rory wants the book to be, the more frustrated Badger gets, until he tells little Rory that if he wants that book, he should go and write it.

However, realising that Rory is too little to be able to write yet, Badger’s grumpy heart melts, and he agrees to help Rory make the book – together, they create a fantastic story that never existed before.

This gorgeous, adorable, and heartwarming picture book about the power of creativity and friendship is a lovely story, with sweet and beautifully detailed illustration.

Set in the same world as Paddy Donnelly’s previous picture book, Fox and Son, Tailers, this story explores a similarly warm theme of community, finding your place, and celebrating togetherness.
