About this book

All aboard the baby bus! Join the friendly animals on the bus as it zooms around the town picking up passengers.

Can you open and close the doors? Swish swish! And can you help Bunny ring the bell to stop? Ding ding!

This chunky board book has some excellent chances to get the young child involved. They can slide the bus along on the cover, and they can swish the doors shut, move all the vehicles on the road, and ring the bell. All of this is very pleasing, and after the first reading they can move the sliders by themselves without an adult leading.

The bright illustrations show a variety of happy, friendly animals going on the bus and around the town, so conversation about animals can be had, as well as about buses, towns, and day-to-day life. The text is very short and rhyming, with lots of fabulous noises to join in with, meaning that it should be fun to read aloud.

This is one in a cute series, with Train, Car, Aeroplane, Boat and Tractor to look out for as well. For fans of vehicles, but also for any child who enjoys books with moving parts.

About the author

Sebastien Braun was born in Strasbourg, the hometown of Gustav Doré and Tomi Ungerer (his heroes). As a child he spent countless hours drawing, but at secondary school there were no art classes, so he filled his homework with doodles and portraits of his teachers. At university he initially studied history – fortunately, the building was shared with the art department, and when he saw the students sketching, knew he had to change. After that, he spent a few years teaching applied art to sixth formers, before taking the plunge as a freelance illustrator. His first commissions were for magazines in Paris, and when he moved to London, he developed his portfolio for children's books.

Apart from creating pictures, Seb's favourite pastimes are making toys from wood, playing with his children and climbing the Cotswold hills on his vintage road bike.
