How does an airport actually work? What happens at security? What does an airport gate look like? How do you get onto a plane and what’s a safety briefing? 

Mo T, The Airport Guy, is the reader’s airport guide through this colourful, detailed (with a slight Richard Scarry feel) and graphic-style book, taking children through every step of the way from packing to go on holiday to the airport experience, the plane and arriving at a holiday destination.  

The book follows a family as they prepare to go on holiday, giving the information-based read a more personal touch. The text is fairly detailed, with busy pictures showing the step-by-step procedures of elements such as passport control and what happens on an airfield, meaning that this book would suit older primary readers. 

There’s also a double page spread detailing all the different jobs that might be done at an airport at the end of the book, as well as a detailed index and glossary – which is useful for terms like “marshalling wand” and “foreign object debris”. 

An interesting and original book that would be useful to look at ahead of a plane trip for primary school children.
