About this book
Tariq loves food. At home, meals are family time – everyone passing plates and tucking in.
But when his teacher announces a class picnic, with each person bringing their favourite dish, Tariq doesn’t know which to bring. How can he possibly choose?
His auntie tells him her favourite, and so do his dad and his sister – but which special dish tastes of home and happiness to Tariq?
This charming picture book is deliciously cosy. The beautiful illustrations create a warm, loving family atmosphere – and the flights of fancy that tasting each dish brings are gorgeously colourful.
Many young children will relate to the idea of food summoning memories and evoking feelings of family times, which makes this a gorgeous book to share with a group or class. Tariq’s South Asian heritage is particularly celebrated here, but other backgrounds are included too, making this a lovely, inclusive book.
