The Goodnight Star

Publisher: Red Fox Picture Books

It's a beautiful starry night, but Megan can't sleep; she's afraid of the dark. Trying to calm her fears, she gazes up to the sky and notices a shooting star. It shoots closer then suddenly it's in her room, twinkling and sparkling!  It's the loveliest thing Megan's ever seen, but she knows she can't keep it. Bravely, she carries the star downstairs back into the darkness.

Fears laid aside, Megan dances with the star in the night garden, the dark no longer terrifying, then she releases it into the sky. If Megan's afraid again, she simply looks up at her star, which always shines more brightly.

Gently gleaming colours add a soft glow of nocturnal enchantment to this reassuring story about conquering night-time fear through friendship.
