The Robber Raccoon

Publisher: Faber

Rosie Raccoon is on a crime caper. Tiptoeing into Bear’s house, creeping into Flamingo’s home, sneaking up Snake’s tower… She knows it’s wrong, but she can’t stop sliding through more and more doors and taking more and more treasures!

Luckily, the animals have burglar alarms, and the police are soon on her tail. Chasing through the night, they finally catch up with Rosie. Only to discover that her stolen loot is, in fact, junk. No good to the original owners, but Rosie can use it for another purpose. She’s a real rebel – a recycling raccoon!

Created on the suggestion of some primary school children, this is a reminder that we should look twice at supposed ‘rubbish’, and try to re-use it. The bouncy, rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud, and the warm illustrations contain lots of details for the child to spot. The alarm and siren noises are fun to join in with as well.
