Anisha, Accidental Detective: Holiday Adventure

Publisher: Usborne

Anisha is not thrilled at the prospect of a family holiday to an outdoor adventure park, as she prefers science and reading to archery and zip wires. However, to her surprise, she finds plenty of things to keep her occupied, including an intriguing mystery to solve. When a giant duck statue is vandalised, Cleo, one of the activity leaders, gets the blame and loses her job. Anisha is sure Cleo is innocent and is determined to clear her name. With the help of her cousins and friends, Anisha pieces together the clues to find the real culprit.

Full of warmth, humour and plenty of chaos, the tale centres around a multi-generational British-Indian family and is a splendid addition to the Anisha, Accidental Detective series. Anisha is a caring protagonist, who stands up for others and always tries to do the right thing, even if it pushes her out of her comfort zone. The relationship she has with her extended family is delightful and Granny Jas is a particularly entertaining character, who refuses to let her age stand in the way of adventure. Inclusive, accessible and fun, the tale is enhanced by dynamic black-and-white illustrations which are dotted throughout the chapters.
