BookTrust Cymru Early Years Partner Conference 2022/2023

Reading Matters - Connecting Families Living in Poverty to the Transformative Power of Reading for Pleasure

This year’s BookTrust Cymru Early Years Partner Conference brought together high-profile voices including children’s authors and illustrators, early years organisations and practitioners who support children and families.

Together, we explored why access to books and reading for pleasure is so important for all families, particularly those living in poverty.

The conference took place as a series of online webinars spread over 2 days. The webinars were in the format of a panel discussion and 2 practice sharing sessions, with contributions and insights from:

• Connor Allen, Children's Laureate Wales 2021 – 2023

• Diana Gerald, CEO BookTrust

• Katie Hadley, Little Lounge

• Susannah Hill, Aura Wales

• Paul Howard, Children's Writing Fellow NI 2021 - 2023

• Nick Sharratt, Children's Author and Illustrator, and BookTrust's Writer in Residence

• Nadia Shireen, Children's Author and Illustrator

• Emmajayne Skinner, Boomerang Cardiff

• Bethan Webber, CEO HomeStart Cymru

• BookTrust, the UK's largest children's reading charity

• Other contributors to be confirmed
