I Got a Crocodile

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

There was once a little girl who always wanted a brother or sister. Instead, she got a crocodile. This was quite a surprise.

Having a crocodile around is fun – at first. But then there is big trouble at teatime, bathtime and bedtime. The crocodile follows her everywhere and bawls when it is sad: but nobody notices when the little girl feels unhappy.

Nobody that is, except for the crocodile. And who else but the crocodile would be her Royal Dragon, her big green slide, her pirate island?  It turns out that she is very glad she has a crocodile after all.

Expressive pastel-coloured illustrations beautifully convey the complexity of emotions involved in welcoming a newcomer to the family in this wise and very funny picture book.
