King Coo: meet the hilarious lead girl who has a beard and guards the woods

Published on: 22 March 2018

King Coo by Adam Stower is an absolute romp of a story, and you'll love its lead girl character. Coo completely loves the woods (and wombats). Get to know her by looking through the illustrations in our gallery.

King Coo (David Fickling Books) tells the story of how Ben unwittingly ends up in a fantasy realm, after he tries to escape the school bullies.

This leads him to the lands of King Coo: a bearded female ruler who takes Ben on raucous adventures and helps him defeat the meanies.

Adam Stower is the writer and also the illustrator behind the fantastically detailed black-and-white drawings that bring it all to life. The illustrations are a real mix of diagrams, rough sketches, comic-book-style layouts and double-page spreads.

Have a look at our gallery below and see what you think. We reckon King Coo is a very funny fantasy adventure for all 5-12 year olds.
