Welcome to the Story Explorers Hub
Hello! Welcome to the Story Explorers Online Hub. On our exclusive members' area, you will find a range of content to support you to make the most of the Story Explorers programme.
We've developed our resources with families to ensure that you'll find something here that is useful.
Story Explorers is a fun, playful story sharing programme. It is designed to support you to enjoy the many benefits of reading together with the child or children you care for.
Story Explorers offers new books and ways to share stories every month. With each story, there’s an opportunity for quality-time, to feel closer and to learn more about each other.
As well as receiving monthly story sharing kits, you’ll also receive monthly email updates and access to our online Story Explorers Hub, where you can find more information about the programme, tips and advice on reading with young children, and activities and resources to have fun with together.
All resources have been designed with, and for, families. As such, all materials are appropriate, easy to engage with and suitable for young children.
How it works...

- You are asked via email to select your Book Buddy.

“Thank you for all the hard work you have put into the Story Explorers development. I really hope we can find a way to share with our Southampton families.”
95% of parents and carers know that reading with a child is important, and many people think that this is because it helps the child to do well at school.
While reading with a child from a young age is an important factor in later educational attainment, it can also support a much wider range of outcomes, including:
- Supporting bonding and building trust between an adult and child through the closeness of reading together
- Supporting emotional well-being through escapism, emotional regulation and empathy
- Supporting a sense of familiarity and security through the development of a routine
- Strengthening belonging and identity through stories that reflect their own lives.
Our programmes aim to support families to experience these benefits by making reading a fun and easy activity to do together.
