Blown Away

Publisher: Harper Collins

Penguin Blue has got a new toy, and it's the right kind of day to try it out. But the wind is a little stronger than expected and along with the new kite, Penguin Blue is blown away. Friends grab on along the way as the kite soars over the ocean. Penguins and a polar bear named Clive hold onto the string and when it lands in a lush green jungle, the animals start getting a little hot and bothered. The animals will have to work together to find a way to escape the tropical island and find their way back to their cold but comforting home.

Rob Biddulph's debut picture book will charm even tiny tots with its simple rhyme and clean bright digital artwork. A gorgeous bright palette shows the sharp contrast of the climates and children will enjoy recognising the various animals in their landscapes. It remains a mystery why polar bears and penguins are portrayed as co-habitants in picture book world but the wintery scenes are really lovely and this is an immediately appealing book that announces the arrival of a new visual talent.
