Flo Skritchett is a modern witchgirl, living in Witchworld. Here, witches aren't all broomsticks, wands and cauldrons anymore - technology has caught up with them: wands have become spellsticks, broomsticks have been replaced by the much safer and comfier skyriders, and who needs a cauldron when you have Potions2Go? But then her old-fashioned Grandmother comes to visit. She is convinced the ghouls are about to attack Witchworld. But as everyone knows, ghouls are definitely extinct, and Grandma is just an old lady with 'confusions'…

Witchworld is a thoroughly bewitching tale that brings witches into the 21st century. This creates a wonderfully effective story which is funny, exciting and adventurous. Interestingly, it also touches upon a variety of issues, such as conservation and environmental troubles, family relationships, and everyday pressures that adolescents face (Flo's sister is continuously upset about her small, unbumpy and entirely unwitchy nose…) All in all, a fantastic story that keeps its readers spellbound and eagerly awaiting the next instalment of this new series.
