BookTrust Storytime Prize

This prize, which is in its fifth year, celebrates and promotes the best books for sharing with young children and is part of the BookTrust Storytime pilot.

The five brilliant books shortlisted for this year's BookTrust Storytime prize have been unveiled. They are:

  • Are You A Monster? written and illustrated by Guiherme Karsten (Happy Yak)
  • I Am Happy written by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Robert Starling (Walker Books)
  • Just Breathe, Bear written by Christianne Jones and illustrated by Oriol Vidal (Curious Fox)
  • The Perfect Present written and illustrated by Petr Horacek (Otter Barry Books)
  • Zeki Rise and Shine written by Anna McQuinn and illustrated by Ruth Hearson (Alanna Max)

The prize, which aims to find the best book for sharing with 0-5s, will again be part of the BookTrust Storytime pilot to encourage families to visit their local library.

An expert panel chose the shortlisted books with insights from librarians and families, and the nominees will now face a public vote from children, families and librarians for the £5,000 prize.

Copies of all the shortlisted books will be delivered to libraries taking part in the pilot, while some libraries will also receive activities and resources to help them encourage families to get involved.
