Send your favourite fact to our Writer in Residence to enter her non-fiction competition!
Transcript
Hi everyone, I'm Rashmi Sirdeshpande and I am the current BookTrust Writer in Residence. I write all kinds of things including picture books and illustrated children's nonfiction or factual books. Books like How to Change the World, illustrated by Annabel Tempest and Cash: How to earn it, Save it, Spend it, Grow it, and Give it illustrated by Adam Hayes.
Now, during this residency, we are celebrating factual books and so here at BookTrust, we have come up with a competition to get children thinking about, sharing and writing about their favourite facts. We are looking for some really juicy facts and up to 400 or 500 words of writing. It can be much less for the younger year groups, of course, and we'd love to see pictures too.
We love pictures. Those facts can be about absolutely anything. They might be about inspiring people, animals, amazing places, inventions, discoveries, big moments in history. They can be about anything and they can be presented in all kinds of formats. So some children might like to write a factual poem, create a comic strip, or write a magazine article. It's all good.
Everything goes. There are prizes up for grabs, and we cannot wait to see what you come up with.
Prizes
You can win a virtual visit from Rashmi to your school and a bundle of her books!
To enter, send your favourite fact to [email protected] by 11pm Wednesday 31th July 2024. Please tell us your class's year group, as there are two prizes - one for Reception and Key Stage 1 and one for Key Stage 2.
