The Island at the End of Everything has the feel and quality of an instant classic. Listen to our video of a reading from the book and you'll definitely see what we mean...

Kiran Millwood Hargrave is a little bit too talented for words. Her last book, The Girl of Ink and Stars, swept up a whole swathe of awards, including the Waterstones Children’s Prize.

Her latest, The Island at the End of Everything, is yet another gem. When we first reviewed it, we called it 'Poetic, bittersweet and full of heart', and it's a story that's stayed with us.

That's precisely why we've included it on our Great Books Guide 2017: a list of our 60 favourite reads from the past year.
